Tofu
New here and I am going to take all my questions slow or nobody will respond. We have decided that Vegetarian is the way to go and I suppose in its simplest form you just eat a lot of fuits and vegetables and we always have tried but things are seasonal and a short growing season here in Maine, I do understand that in order to balance nutrition you have to eat a variety at somewhat regular intervals. That is about as much as I know, other than fruits and vegetables are really expensive, I did order 4 books from amazon which will help a lot and hoping for some help from people that are doing it, as in this forum.
My first big question as you might expect is about protein, when I ask a vegetarian they always say Tofu. My problem is I really dislike tofu, I know it takes on the flavor that you infuse it with that is ok, but it is the texture kind of mushy and just no bite at all to it, yuck. There are suppose to be Tofu products that don't have that problem but after buying a few I haven't hit anything that really taste like food. So if you know let me know or tell me about other products that will supply as much protein. Because of liver disease they limit me to a 4oz piece of meat on the other hand my wife has no such problem. So whatever we land up replacing meat with will be used by us differently.
Thanks for your help,
Barry
